King Kong dominates the front page of today’s New York Post. The paper features an interesting story about the incredible attention to detail paid by Peter Jackson in recreating New York of 1933.
The story references a making-of “Kong” DVD due out Dec. 13 when quoting Jackson as saying: “It was important to me that New York is not stylized, that it’s realistic. We’ve gone to a lot of detail because we want it as historically accurate as possible.”
Newsweek: Exclusive First Look at King Kong
Earlier this month, Peter Jackson invited NEWSWEEK to New Zealand for an exclusive first look at the nearly finished product. In this week’s issue, the magazine’s critic Devin Gordon offers up a nearly 2,000-word glowing review of the film.
“Now is probably a good time to mention that Jackson’s epic, $207 million remake of King Kong, is a surprisingly tender, even heartbreaking, film.”
“Jackson has honored his favorite film in the best possible way: by recapturing its heart-pounding, escapist glee.”

If you haven’t seen them yet, you can check out the new Kong movie TV spots that have been released by Universal. The official movie site has two spots - “Tremble” (:30) and “Unknown” (:30 and :60 versions).
Guess we weren’t too far off when we pondered the possibilities of a King Kong iPod. Seems Toshiba has made an incredibly shameless attempt at capitalizing on the Kong buzz by releasing a King Kong branded mp3 player.

What ever happened to plain old actions figures? Just what a parent wants for their kids - screaming giant fury hands. These should keep any 4 - 9 year old happy for about 30 seconds until the novelty wears off…

Not surprisingly, Entertainment Weekly has made King Kong the cover feature of its holiday movie preview issue. The article, which contains some pretty cool pics including a nice opening spread, is fairly long by EW standards. Check it out…
The rawfeed just posted a blurb about “A new “look inside” video about the upcoming Peter Jackson movie, “King Kong,” features never-before-posted scenes from the film, as well as glimpses into some of the special effects used.”.
